Viticulture

Spain has 13% of the world’s total vineyard area, making it the third-largest producer in the world, contributing around 1% to Spain’s GDP. We are the third-largest exporters in the world in value and are responsible for 25% of European wine production. We generate employment in the wineries, and the countryside, making it a key sector in the fight against rural depopulation. On average, the industry has invested between 170 and 180 million euros per year in R&D+i projects in the last five years.

CEIGRAM’s researchers and experts in viticulture collaborate in and act as consultants to both the public administration and companies in the sector, advising on risk management in the wine sector. In this sense, the lines of water relations and conduction systems have evolved into specific projects that pursue environmental and economic sustainability objectives.
