RESEARCH AREAS AND INTERESTS:

  • Terroir
  • Water relations
  • Vine nutrition
  • Training systems and pruning
  • Soil management
  • Plant material

The Research Group in Viticulture of the UPM works closely with wineries and vinegrowers, therefore the research lines stem from both industry and social demand (SDG). The works currently taking place deal with i) studying the adaptability of minority cultivars on warm areas, ii) vineyard response to different water quality for irrigation, and iii) the study of precision viticulture for irrigation management.

The Group also has experience in vine consultancy, allowing students to do placements in companies and keep teachers updated on what is occuring in the industry.
