Water sustainability in the Acacias-Pajure watershed, Colombia. A prospective and strategic view of agriculture <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

A new Research Seminar will take place this Friday, November 22nd<\/strong> at CEIGRAM. The Seminar will be held online and in person<\/strong>, at CEIGRAM’s Conference Room<\/strong>, at 12:00 noon. <\/p>\n\n

This paper presents the progress of a doctoral thesis that proposes an innovative and prospective approach for sustainable water management in the Acac\u00edas-Pajure river basin, Colombia. Through the application of the water footprint as a central indicator of sustainability in agricultural production and the use of advanced data science tools for information processing, the cultural, productive and academic context of the region is integrated. This strategic approach seeks not only to understand, but also to anticipate and optimize the use of water resources in an area intensely influenced by socioeconomic activities, thus contributing to informed and sustainable decisions. <\/p>\n\n

\u00d3scar Vargas Pineda <\/strong>is an Agroindustrial Engineer with a Specialization in Integrated Water Resource Management and a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Environmental Management.He is currently pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Sciences with a BICENTENARIO scholarship.In Colombia, he has been categorized as a Junior Researcher before the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. He has 7 years of experience as a researcher at the Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Colombian Orinoco and 5 years as a university professor. In addition, he has worked for 3 years as a consultant in hydroclimatic and agro-environmental data analysis in prominent projects, including \u201cWater Resource Management Options for the Orinoco\u201d of the World Bank and \u201cAgribusiness Value Chains and Key Stakeholders in Amazon Region\u201d of the Inter-American Development Bank. He is also the creator of the YouTube channel Trabajo Cient\u00edfico<\/a>, where he shares content related to his areas of expertise. <\/p>\n\n
