{"id":18353,"date":"2025-11-12T10:24:34","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T09:24:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/ceigram-presents-the-miren-4r-project-to-mitigate-the-impact-of-reactive-nitrogen-on-mediterranean-crops\/"},"modified":"2025-11-12T11:06:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T10:06:35","slug":"ceigram-presents-the-miren-4r-project-to-mitigate-the-impact-of-reactive-nitrogen-on-mediterranean-crops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/en\/ceigram-presents-the-miren-4r-project-to-mitigate-the-impact-of-reactive-nitrogen-on-mediterranean-crops\/","title":{"rendered":"CEIGRAM presents the MIREN-4R project to mitigate the impact of reactive nitrogen on Mediterranean crops"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final resolution proposal for the MIREN-4R project (\u201cMitigation of reactive nitrogen through the 4R approach in Mediterranean crops\u201d) has recently been published. an initiative of the 2024-2027 State Plan for Scientific, Technical, and Innovation Research, aimed at reducing nitrogen losses in Mediterranean agricultural systems and moving toward more sustainable fertilizer management.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project, led by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/en\/team\/garcia-marco-sonia\/garcia-marco-sonia-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sonia Garc\u00eda Marco<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/en\/team\/guardia-vazquez-guillermo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Guillermo Guardia<\/a><\/strong>, is part of the 2024 Knowledge Generation Projects call for proposals by the State Research Agency, and will be developed by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/en\/research-group\/contamination-of-agrosystems-by-agricultural-practices-coapa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Group on Contamination of Agrosystems by Agricultural Practices (COAPA)<\/a><\/strong>, attached to the Department of Food Chemistry and Technology of the ETSIAAB-UPM and CEIGRAM.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mitigation of reactive nitrogen: a key environmental challenge<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reactive nitrogen<\/strong> derived from the use of agricultural fertilizers is one of the main factors contributing to soil, water, and atmospheric pollution. <strong>MIREN-4R<\/strong> will address this problem by applying the <strong>4R approach <\/strong>(\u201c<strong>Right source, Right rate, Right time, Right place<\/strong>\u201d), which promotes the use of the right fertilizer, in the right dose, at the right time and place, to optimize nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and minimize its environmental impact. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"727983\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #727983;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"999\" height=\"393\" src=\"https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/4R-Table.avif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18343 not-transparent\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/4R-Table.avif 999w, https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/4R-Table-300x118.avif 300w, https:\/\/ceigram.upm.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/4R-Table-768x302.avif 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 999px) 100vw, 999px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Objectives and methodology<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will be carried out<strong> over four years<\/strong> y a trav\u00e9s de ensayos de campo e invernadero y mediante tecnolog\u00edas avanzadas (c\u00e1maras autom\u00e1ticas para an\u00e1lisis de emisiones con alta frecuencia, an\u00e1lisis isot\u00f3pico con <sup>15<\/sup>N, gas chromatography, study of microbial communities).
