The Escuela T\u00e9cnica Superior de Ingenier\u00eda Agron\u00f3mica, Alimentaria y de Biosistemas (ETSIAAB)<\/a><\/strong> and its Centre for Studies and Research on Agricultural and Environmental Risk Management (CEIGRAM)<\/a><\/strong> are holding a seminar to present and analyse the evolution of the bioeconomy, as well as its challenges and future prospects. In this seminar, entitled \u201cHow to develop a sustainable bioeconomy?\u201d and given by researcher Iris Lewandowski, both students and researchers will have the opportunity to learn about and discuss the bioeconomy with a leading expert in the field. <\/p>\n\n

The seminar will be held on Friday, 21 November, at 11:30 a.m.<\/strong>, in the Aula Magna<\/a> of ETSIAAB. It will be conducted in English. <\/p>\n\n

Iris Lewandowski is full professor of \u2018Biological Resources in the Bioeconomy\u2019 at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. There she also serves as director of Bioeconomy, scientific coordinator of the European University of Bioeconomy (UEB) and director of the international master\u2019s degree in Bioeconomy. She is also co-chair of the Federal Bioeconomy Council of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg. Previously, she worked as director of the Global Biomass R&D Programme at Shell Global Solutions in Amsterdam and as a senior researcher in biomass at Utrecht University, both in the Netherlands. Her research focuses primarily on sustainable biomass supply systems and the development of bio-based value chains. <\/p>\n\n

In addition, Iris Lewandowski is the editor of the book Bioeconomy: Shaping the transition to a sustainable, biobased economy<\/strong>, one of the recommended texts for students of the degree in Agricultural Sciences and Bioeconomy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
