Joint Research Centre

The Research Centre for the Management of Agricultural and Environmental Risks (CEIGRAM) has been a Joint Research Centre of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) since 2007. It was established thanks to a collaboration agreement signed between the State Entity for Agricultural Insurance (ENESA, an autonomous body of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food), AGROMUTUA-MAVDA (a mutual insurance company specializing in Agricultural Insurance, with nearly 30 years of experience in the sector) and UPM. Since 2017, AGROSEGURO (The Spanish Agricultural Insurance System) has replaced AGROMUTUA within CEIGRAM.

CEIGRAM is a center of reference and knowledge generation dedicated to conducting research and developing methodologies to address the growing concern over risk management strategies related to production, markets, or the environment that the agricultural sector is facing.
CEIGRAM is also committed to the dissemination, transfer, and training of its research areas. Due to its objectives, research focus, and the expertise of its staff, CEIGRAM is an integral part of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Agronómica, Alimentaria y de Biosistemas at UPM.

Human Resources

The CEIGRAM team comprises researchers from various Schools at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), with a significant representation from Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Agronómica, Alimentaria y de Biosistemas (ETSIAAB).

CEIGRAM also collaborates with associated researchers from other research organizations, including universities and research centers. In addition, CEIGRAM hosts a variable number of trainee researchers, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students and visiting researchers.
