Professor of Crop Ecology and Agronomy at the UPM. Her research focuses on water use by cereal-legume cropping systems in semi-arid areas, evaluation of their sustainability through crop simulation, estimating the impact of abiotic factors including those of climate change, and on the analysis of the yield gap in the context of food security, publishing and being cited in high impact scientific journals.

She has international experience as a researcher in Great Britain and Australia, as a Senior National Expert in the EC DG Research. She has belonged to the EC Horizon 2020 Advisory Committee for “Societal Challenge 2 and LEIT Biotechnology” and to the FACCE-JPI Governing Board for agriculture and climate change. She has been Director of CEIGRAM (2014-16). She has experience in commercial farm management in Spain, Australia and Mongolia.
