In 2022, Cajamar published the first report on Sustainability Indicators in the Agri-Food Sector, prepared by a large working team of CEIGRAM, of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. It was a pioneering work due to its vocation to compile the most accurate information possible on the different areas and variables that define sustainability in the agri-food sector and to do so in a comparative manner with the European context.

In this way, a publication was born with the aim of completing the diagnosis on the state of the sector, as it is totally complementary to the report published every year by Cajamar, Observatory of the Spanish Agri-Food System in the European context. If the Observatory shows us each year the fundamentally economic behavior of the agri-food sector in a comparative way with the European Union, the Sustainability Indicators shows to what extent the sector behaves in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way. In other words, it shows us the sector’s capacity to produce or not without compromising the needs of future generations.

Two years later, most of the indicators have updated information that justifies and makes this second edition of the “Indicators” necessary, in this case in the form of the “2024 Report”. In order to give continuity to the publication, the same indicators and areas have been selected, although new indicators have been updated and incorporated to improve the usefulness of the report.

During this on-site conference we will present the report with the participation of its authors. In addition, we will look at the conclusions of the values shown by the indicators and at the future of sustainability information and what it can contribute to the future of the sector itself.

The event will take place on 25.03.2025 in the Aula Magna of ETSIAAB from 12.00. Prior registration is required.
