A new Research Seminar will take place this Friday, May 9th at CEIGRAM. The seminar will be held online and in person, at CEIGRAM’s Conference Room, at 12.30 pm.
Fernando Peregrina and Joaquín Cámara, from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Agronómica, Alimentaria y de Biosistemas (ETSIAAB), will present their main research topics and the possibilities of collaboration that will open up after their incorporation to CEIGRAM.
Fernando Peregrina: “Soil quality and fertility, its influence on the production and quality of musts and wines from vineyards in the D.O.Ca. Rioja” Based on the results of field experiences in vineyards in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, with plant cover, organic amendments and winegrowing zoning studies. It will be explained how the improvement of soil quality affects soil fertility and the production and quality of musts and wines. And how sustainable soil management can be compatible with the viability of winegrowing in the D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Joaquín Cámara: “Present and future of soil mapping”. Digital soil mapping offers a conceptual framework of great interest for the analysis and characterization of soil properties. This session will present the basics of traditional soil mapping and the innovative aspects of digital soil mapping. A review of previous work carried out to date will be made and future lines of work will be presented.
Both researchers are part of the “Soil quality and environmental applications” research group. Their work is framed within the agri-food and agri-environmental field, with lines of research ranging from soil quality and biology, carbon sequestration and climate change, to the use of technologies such as remote sensing and spectroscopy applied to the study of soils. Its fields of action include agroclimatology, contaminated soils, waste valorization and the development of substrates and amendments for cultivation. The group is part of the AGRISOST consortium, focused on generating technologies for a more efficient and environmentally friendly agriculture, and participates in initiatives such as the Fertiberia Chair for agro-environmental studies. It also maintains a strong commitment to scientific dissemination, understood as a fundamental part of its research work.
We hope that the event will be of interest to you.
