Hernández Montes, Esther
After completing her studies in Agricultural Technical Engineering and a Master’s in Agro-environmental Technology for Sustainable Agriculture at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, she earned her PhD at the University of the Balearic Islands, focusing on carbon and water balances in vineyards under varying environmental and genetic conditions. During her postdoctoral experience at the University of Bologna (Italy), Washington State University (USA), and the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain), she studied the effects of climate change on plant physiology and fruit ripening, with a particular focus on water stress and extreme heat events. Currently, she works as a Lecturer in Horticulture at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, continuing her research on water relations and management practices as adaptation and mitigation strategies under climate change conditions.
