Next Friday, October 10th, a new research seminar will take place at CEIGRAM. The seminar will be available online and in person in CEIGRAM’s conference room at 12:30 p.m.

This seminar will present the research carried out at the Institute of Agricultural Environment, from the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, by a group of researchers who are spending a month at CEIGRAM as part of the collaboration between FAO and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These researchers came to Madrid to learn more about the work that is being implemented by the COAPA Research Group at the ETSIAAB.

Their presentation will focus on strategies for mitigating nitrogen losses in rice cultivation in Vietnam. Nitrogen losses in Vietnamese rice cultivation occur primarily through ammonia volatilization, leading to significant nutrient loss and greenhouse gas emissions. Practices like continuous flooding under conventional methods exacerbate these losses, impacting water quality and contributing to climate change. Initiatives in Vietnam aim to reduce these losses by promoting water-saving technologies, optimizing fertilization, and increasing farmer adoption of sustainable practices to improve nitrogen use efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

In order to keep track of attendance and register those interested in connecting to the online session, we have provided a registration form which, together with complete information about the seminar, can be found at the following link: http://eventos.upm.es/go/SeminariosCEIGRAM-10-10
